hell's kitchen in a thunderstorm - a hailstorm! - is better than a zen garden, and i could watch it for hours. my head is full of things i'll miss when we've moved down to the lower east side; that the view from our living room is often an album cover is high on my imaginary list.

Amazing! I think I've only experienced a handful of hailstorms in my entire life, but I do love them. So wild.
these were the biggest hailstones i'd ever seen, too - gumball-sized! joe kept pulling me back from the window, as he was afraid they'd crack it and i'd get hurt. it was endearingly protective.
hail is awesome, as long as you're not driving in it. ask wabes about the time we drove through a thunder-and-lightning hailstorm in middle-of-nowhere virginia.
or, you know, bare-headed and random. there were a couple of tourist types wandering around in the plaza across the way just as the hail got ridiculous. five feet from starbucks! christ, tourists!
